Hi! - I'm a fool, a defector, I'm a sinking boat. My eyes frighten children, stare madly from my hooded coat Another day, a week, another year. I can't control my ever growing fears Can't keep in contact with the outside world. It seems society would rather see our hero dead I do not know the words He's a people without pets That people feed each other With no need for silly vets I'm frightened of the telephone Can't you see his mind is sick? I tend to stutter He's a bloody lunatic Circle, give me comfort from the vicious square. Guide me, take me out into the open air I cast aside responsibility. So independent but I don't feel free Human emotions don't apply to me. Wish I could laugh some love or spit some hate with honesty I cannot care about myself He's a people without pets or any being With no need for silly vets I need to learn the rudiments Can't you see his mind is sick? of social living He's a bloody lunatic So, I get up, and I go to the window, and I catch sight of something soft and warm on the grass below. Somebody comes to retrieve the cat and it strikes me that, she's had a lifetime of practice with furballs... I feel so happy now the answer's clear. I've gone untouched by softness all these years My fingers itching now we're on the street. To touch the beards and hats and coats and cats of those I meet

Twilight 04:13
Out in the trees, under the starlight A tiny shiver, hold my hand tight A distant whisper, see the moon bright Almost always never there And every single one has gone now Look through my eyes, you never knew how Can't understand and can't remember But still the feelings linger on

[News:] A well-known Bognor restaurant-owner disappeared early this morning. Last seen in a mouse-brown overcoat, suitably camouflaged, they saw him catch a train. [Man-in-the-street:] "Father of three its disgusting" "Such a horrible thing to do" Harold the Barrel cut off his toes and he served them all for tea "Can't go far", "He can't go far". "Hasn't got a leg to stand on" "He can't go far". [Man-on-the-spot:] I'm standing in a doorway on the main square tension is mounting There's a restless crowd of angry people [Man-on-the-council:] "More than we've ever seen - had to tighten up security" Over to the scene at the town hall The Lord Mayor's ready to speak [Lord Mayor:] "Man of suspicion, you can't last long, the British Public is on our side" [British Public:] "Can't last long", "You can't last long". "Said you couldn't trust him, his brother was just the same" "You can't last long". [Harold:] If I was many miles from here, I'd be sailing in an open boat on the sea Instead I'm on this window ledge, With the whole world below Up at the window Look at the window... [Mr.Plod:] "We can help you" [Plod's Chorus:] "We can help you" [Mr. Plod:] "We're all your friends, if you come on down and talk to us son" [Harold:] You must be joking Take a running jump The crowd was getting stronger and our Harold getting weaker; Forwards, backwards, swaying side to side Fearing the very worst They called his mother to the sight Upon the ledge beside him His mother made a last request. [67-yr-old Mrs Barrel:] "Come off the ledge if your father were alive he'd be very, very, very upset. "Just can't jump, you just can't jump" "Your shirt's all dirty, there's a man here from the B.B.C." "You just can't jump" [Mr. Plod:] "We can help you" [Plod's Chorus:] "We can help you" [Mr. Plod:] "We're all your friends, if you come on down and talk to us Harry" [Harold:] You must be joking. Take a running jump...... Lyrics © Quartet Music Ltd/Stratsong Ltd.

We are the 801, We are the central shaft And we are here to let you take advantage Of our lack of craft: Certain streets have certain corners Sooner or later, we'll turn yours We are the 801, We are the central shaft And thus throughout two years We've crossed the ocean in our little craft (Row! Row! Row) Now we're on the telephone, Making final arrangements (Ding! Ding!) We are the 801, we are the central shaft Looking for a certain ratio Someone must have left it underneath the carpet Looking up and down the radio Oh-oh, nothing there this time Looking for a certain ratio Someone said they saw it parking in a car-lot Looking up and down the radio Oh-oh, nothing there this time Going back down to the radio Oh, oh - oh, oh - oh, oh - here we go! We are the table, the captain's table Let's get it understood, let's get it understood We are the losers, we are the bruisers Let's get it understood, let's get it understood We are the diners, the final diners Let's get it understood, let's get it understood Most of us tinkers, some of us tailors, And we've got candlesticks, and lots of cocktail sticks We saw the lovers, the modern lovers And they looked very good, they looked as if they could We are the neighbours, the nosy neighbours We think just like we would, we think just like we should. Oh, oh oh oh oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh, oh-oh oh-oh, oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh-oh © EG Music Ltd / Universal Music MGB Ltd

Standing at the door of the Pink Flamingo crying in the rain, It was a kind of so-so love and I'm gonna make sure it doesn't happen again, You and I had to be the standing joke of the year, You were a run around, a lost and found, and not for me I feel Take your hands off me, hey, I don't belong to you, you see, And take a look in my face, for the last time, I never knew you, you never knew me, Say hello goodbye, Say hello and wave goodbye, We tried to make it work, you in a cocktail skirt and me in a suit but it just wasn't me, You're used to wearing less, and now your life's a mess, so insecure you see, I put up with all the scenes, this is one scene that's going to be played my way [Chorus:] Say hello and wave goodbye Under the deep red light I can see the make-up sliding down, Well hey little girl you will always make up so take off that unbecoming frown, As for me, well I'll find someone who's not going cheap in the sales, A nice little housewife who'll give me a steady life and not keep going off the rails, [Chorus:] Say hello and wave goodbye [repeat] © Warner Chappell Music Ltd.
